Good People Everywhere!

Isn't it wonderful when, against all odds and negative public opinion, one single person can restore our faith in humanity? I just spoke to a guy like that - a wonderfully, warm, caring human being. Faith restored!
Here' how it happened, such a small thing but with big results! As I am leaving for Chios very early Tuesday morning, I got in contact with Toula who runs a team of volunteers there to see if they needed any 'small' thing I could fit in my carry on case to bring them from the UK. They desperately needed red hi-vis vests for health and safety of the volunteers working with CESRT. Toula sent me a picture yesterday and I've been frantic, googling every place I could, trying to find these at a reasonable price that I could afford, knowing that volunteers are all self-funded and what we bring has to be as a donation. What an impossible task!
Then, on a hunch, I rang this company A4 Apparel and spoke to a really great guy called Jules. I explained the situation and asked if he would be able to a) get them to me before I leave and b) have a reasonable price. He is an amazing guy - he straight away understood the problem, the volunteer situation, and offered to donate 25 vests to the operation in Chios! AND threw in the cost of delivery to my address!
It warms my heart to know that there are still people out there in the world, no matter their personal views, that understand what it means to be human and to make choices to behave in ways that benefit humanity. I feel honoured and humbled by this man and his company's donation to the humanitarian crisis unfolding so bitterly in Europe and across the world. Now if we could just get politicians, governments, and others who buy into fearmongering to take a page from Jules' book - the world would be a kinder, better place.
